CARDIOLOGY AND PODIATRY MAKE A GREAT FIT

Although surprising to many, podiatric medicine providers can be a cardiologist’s best friend. This may seem strange at first, but when you consider the benefits of podiatric medicine in enabling people to walk better, it makes perfect sense.

Because of the ability of podiatry to resolve foot pain without debilitating surgery, we allow them to walk better, farther, and with less pain. This can usually be achieved through an analysis of gait and foot, ankle, and lower leg mechanics. By identifying and resolving foot pain, patients with heart disease are more inclined to get the exercise prescribed for them.

They are told to strengthen their heart and walking is the best approach for many of these individuals. Perhaps now it seems more understandable why cardiology and podiatry make strange but effective partners in patient health.
